Tornadoes of several kinds, earthquakes with chasms and lava, a volcano, dam break floods, meteors, downbursts, lightning, gas and fuel explosions, a blizzard, a solar storm, a waterspout, nuclear meltdowns and Doomsday.

A disaster sandbox: earthquakes, meteors, volcanoes, floods and more

Tornadoes are only the start. The Disasters panel of Apocalypse Sandbox offers each event on its own, grouped as tornado types, fire and ground, water and sky, and a secret group. You can trigger them one at a time, combine them, or press Doomsday and let the town face them in sequence. The game is free and runs in the browser.

Fire and ground

Earthquake: opens a chasm in the ground, sometimes with lava and a Lavanado (a tornado of lava).
Volcano: erupts out of the earthquake's fissure.
Gas main rupture and fuel station: tankers, chemical works, gas mains, power lines and fuel stations go up and set each other off, and the fires spread until the fire crews arrive.
Ignite: sets a place alight.

Water and sky

Dam break: an opaque flood that sweeps the valley and drains again.
Meteors: strikes from the sky, with lava bombs.
Downburst: a column of sinking air that flattens what it hits.
Lightning strikes aimed with a reticle.
Solar storm: auroras and a blackout street by street, with lights out, engines dead and machines and alien ships glitching.
Waterspout over the lake, when you call it.

The secret group

Doomsday runs disasters in sequence. The nuclear plants can melt down, which devastates the area and sends out a green EMP wave that mutates what it touches. There is also a Smooth Criminal event with its own music.

The town reacts

The town is life-size and alive: people flee, seek shelter and pair up, new arrivals keep it populated, and emergency vehicles work through the disaster. The elevated highway's pillars can snap, a train can derail, and cows in the pasture can be carried off.
