How to play: controls, phone controls and co-op
Apocalypse Sandbox runs in the browser, on a laptop or a phone. This page lists the controls and the modes; a four-card welcome in the game, opened with the question mark button or the H key, covers the same ground.
Play Apocalypse Sandbox, free →Free in your browser, no download. Best on a laptop; it works on a phone too.
Start
Open the game page and wait for the town to build behind the loading bar. The Disasters, Enemies and other folds of the panel start shut; Tab opens the controls. The tornado arrives by itself a few seconds in, or you can bring it down with the Storm tile.
Keyboard
- W A S D: move (in the sandbox view they pan the camera).
- Mouse wheel: switch weapon. Right-click raises the weapon, then the mouse looks.
- Q: Time Slow. E: Teleport. R: EMP. B: call for backup. Space: jetpack. V: Invincible.
- Tab: open the controls. H: open the welcome guide.
Modes
- Free camera: orbit, pan and zoom around the town.
- Play: you are the hero, on foot, with weapons and abilities.
- Chase Mode: drive a car and flee the storm.
- Control Tornado: steer the funnel.
- Arena: a neon free-fight sandbox.
- Model Gallery: inspect every enemy model.
On a phone or tablet
The panel opens as a full-height sheet that scrolls. In Play a floating joystick on the left moves, the right thumb looks, and buttons fire, aim, switch weapon and use the abilities. Chase Mode and Control Tornado use one joystick: put a thumb down anywhere and push. Co-op is hidden on a phone.
Co-op
Two players can share a town on desktop, each on their own computer, from the Co-op fold of the panel. The host runs the world and is the only one who starts storms, disasters and enemies; the guest plays a Roger with their own keys, mouse and camera and can revive a downed host.

- No. It runs in a modern browser with WebGL.
- Can two people play together?
- Yes, in co-op on desktop. Phones cannot join co-op yet.
- Can I turn the music off?
- Yes. The sound button in the corner mutes everything and the Audio fold has a volume slider and a track selector.
